Our Intensive Courses generally last for ten weeks. We teach 20 lessons per week, 4 lessons per day. During the year we have four course cycles: The autumn course (October – December), the winter course (January – March), the spring course (April - June) and the summer course (July – August), which only lasts for six weeks but during which we teach 25 lessons per week, 5 lessons per day.

We also offer five-week Intensive Courses for total beginners: 5 weeks – 100 lessons – 4 lessons a day. This course is geared especially towards complete beginners of German. Completing this five-week course will enable you to start the Intensive A2 Course at DeLiF.

Our courses are truly intensive, which means that you spend 4 lessons a day in class and an additional 2 hours at home doing homework and revising vocabulary. If you have the opportunity to speak German at home or at work, etc., that will also help you improve significantly.

Our course participants are very motivated and want to learn German as fast and as efficiently as possible.

Every Intensive Course starts with a grading test on the first day of the course – the test includes both a written part and an oral part to ensure the optimal allocation of each participant to the respective class.

Unlike at other schools, the classes are not restricted to a particular level which means that one can learn as much as possible. We support and coach the course participants in this regard. If you invest time and are motivated, you can therefore make very good progress.

After the end of the course you will receive a certificate issued by DeLiF stating your grades and accomplishments in your language level. In this way you will know exactly where you stand according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

It is, however, not possible to progress from a, for example, A1 level to a C1 level within 10 weeks. 200 lessons – which is also the number of lessons of our Intensive Course – will get you from one level to the next, according to the estimates of the Goethe institute, so for example in one Intensive Course you could get from a B1 to a B2 level.

Your competences in listening, speaking writing and reading are trained daily; however, we put strong emphasis on spoken German in our courses. Through our communicative and varied instruction you also improve your grammar and your vocabulary. We work with up-to-date teaching materials for German as a Foreign Language and set the objectives of the courses in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The preparation for the exams of the Goethe institute is part of our Intensive Courses. Our teachers are certified examiners for the Goethe exams on levels A2-C2.

We work closely with the Language Centre of the University of Fribourg and the College of Education Fribourg (HEP).

It is advantageous to sing up for a course early, as there are only a limited amount of spaces available. If a course is already full, you will be put on our waiting list.

Do you have any questions? We would be happy to assist you. You can arrange a personal consultation at any time.
